Her feet hurt, they were cold yet still not completely numbed. Snow gently fell from the dark clouded sky. It was late in the evening and the sun had long since set, which caused a drastic decrease in the temperature. Her Miko out fit was usually only made for the summer and early autumn months so the chill certainly got to her. It had been a mistake to leave the village in search for the springs, her human body couldn’t take the cold like her demon one use to. The frozen ground was hard on her feet, and since it was slippery she had no choice but to take off her sandals in case of slipping back down the very steep hill she was currently climbing.
Now earlier in the week she had become separated from her friend Kanrya who surprisingly ran off yet again. She said something about her pack being near by, so Yukina continued the search for the shards on her own. It wasn’t until earlier today that she ran into someone whom told her about the springs. Seeing how she hadn’t gotten a nice hot bath in a while she decided to go. She felt the change in whether and knew it was going to be a ruff night but she though she would be able to make it to the springs and back before the worse of it hit.
That had been her mistake, now here she was half frozen with out a decent piece of dry wood to get a fire going. As she was mentally scolding herself for being an idiot she felt a change in the temperature. She looked up from her feet to notice she was surrounded by steam which only meant that the springs were near by. A grin spread across her face as she eagerly picked up the pace. Of course she forgot the ground was still slippery and even more so now that was mixed with melting snow, and down she went with a thud. On the way down she managed to whack her head on a near by rock, she sat up and shook her head a bit. That was a bit of a fall, she was just glad no one was around to witness her rare moment of klutziness. Her hand went up to the now slightly swollen bump on her head, that was surly going to bruise. A sigh escaped her lips as she pulled her self up from the ground and continued this time at a slower pace.
Pushing some young evergreen saplings out of her way the springs came into site. What luck it seemed she was the only one there. But either way she had put on her bathing suit earlier that day just in case if she did run into someone at the springs. Deciding her numb body had enough of the cold she shed her Miko out fit and put it neatly folded off to the side. She dipped her foot into the water, it stung a bit but the warm was more then welcome. With out any further hesitation she slipped into the springs. The water was perfect and it almost instantaneously relaxed her stiff muscles. The water came up to her neck as she sat down on one of the many rocks in the spring. A delighted sigh escaped her lips and she closed her eyes. Now she let her mind wander as she thought about the many things that came across her mind.

¡˅¡Nagurikorosu¡˅¡ ¡˅¡Have you heard the news¡˅¡ ¡˅¡That you’re dead?¡˅¡ ¡˅¡I think they never¡˅¡ ¡˅¡Liked you anyway¡˅¡
And darkness is fading in, and darkness is real.
He. Was. Ticked. His was not the out-spoken, yelling kind of anger, the kind of anger which exhausts itself within moments of being released, the kind of anger which strikes swiftly, violently, and blindly, only to be regretted afterwards. No, his was the quiet, seething anger of a very patient man who had finally been pushed to far. He did not, believe it or not, anger very often; no, he was not the quick-tempered or often-tempered kind of person that so many youkai were. Rather, after well over nine centuries of life, he had become quite the tolerant, patient one; there was not much which could bother him. But cold was one thing which truly ticked him off.
One might have said that it was a truly lovely day out, with the sun in the sky and hardly a cloud to be seen; but that one would not say the same if they spoke from anywhere in the near vicinity of Nagurikorosu. No, if they were near the, quite literally, cold-blooded youkai, they would say it was a very dark, very bad day indeed. It was never a good day when Naguri angered, especially not to those near him.
So why in all the Komodo Dragon islands was the cold-blooded lizard here, in this reptile-forsaken wasteland where no cold-blooded creature in their right mind would ever venture? Well, why else? He was here for a challenge; unaware of the fact that “north” and “mountain” were word that were the equivalent of “cold”, he had come here seeking the wolf pack that was so greatly celebrated as such fearful youkai. He had come in his secondary form, intending to take on the entire pack at once, but before long, the cold had chased him back into his human form; the only one which could survive in this weather, and even then by just barely.
If he ever found that garrulous (vocab word! xD) little villager who had sent him up here into this frozen oblivion pit deep within the frozen bowels of some frozen Hades, he would drag them into the sea so far that the pressure alone would crush them into death and then happily eat his fresh meal.
But perhaps things were not all bad; he could taste water in the air, steam upon the wind; and steam meant warmth, something which he was quite interested in finding at the moment. And it was close; very close, for the wind was at his back, sending his brick red hair into his face, and the trailing scarf of his Dokusatsu garb flittering in the air in front of him as he trudged onwards. His sapphire eyes were mere slits as he glared with narrowed eyes into the landscape, his teeth—longer than human teeth for his youkai blood—slightly bared in a silent, continual hiss. Even the lizard tattoo on his face appeared to be in a silent state of burning anger.
But when he topped a rise and set sight on the steam rising from the hot springs, his mood improved considerably, his silent his turning into a slight grin; this was more like it. He could feel his strength returning with the heat, and even enough so that his Hen’You could take effect, his feet changing with each step until they were the heavily clawed, broad feet of a Komodo, making his trek through the slick terrain infinitely easier.
And what was this? His grin turned to an amused smirk; there was a figure ahead, and there was hardly any mistake about who that scantily clad form belonged to. He watched in slight disappointment as the girl slipped into the water, covering her form from his sight; darn, he would have enjoyed getting a closer look at her; it would have improved his mood considerably. Ah well, he would just have to join her; his smirk spread with the improvement to his mood that this thought brought. Well, well; perhaps he would not drag that villager into the depths, after all.
“My, what a beautiful day,” he hissed amiably as he approached, “But it surely cannot compare to the sight which I just laid eyes upon,” he paused on the edge of the pool, the Hen’You’s effect melting away as his feet returned to normal, clad in the boots of the Dokusatsu garb; the smirk on his face was indeed a great improvement to his earlier scowl as he added, “We meet again, my dear.”
“I hope you have no plans of leaving soon, my dear,” he said, pulling the Dokuja, sheath and all, from his belt and setting it against a rock within reach of the water, “It would indeed make my stay in this frozen wasteland more enjoyable to share the springs with you, sweetheart,” he continued, smirking as he pulled the scarf from around his neck and placing it near his katana.
“I do hope you are more enjoyable company than your friend,” he chuckled, pulling the gloves and detached sleeves from his arms and placing them on top of his scarf, “Though I suppose I can’t complain either way; after all, you are by far the cuter of the two, my dear,” he continued as he pulled off his sword belt and the cloth sash that was held on by it, “And I must say, I quite like your taste in clothes, my dear,” he paused to look longingly at her, as though he wished the water would not hide so much, then crouched to remove his boots, leaving only his loose pants and sleeveless shirt on as he entered the water; the material in both had been treated with the water-repellant skin and scales of Komodo Dragons, and neither would sustain any damage from the water; besides, unlike this girl, he did not revel in revealing himself to the world.
He took only a few moments to settle himself so that the water warmed his body well, immediately feeling his strength return now he did not have to work so hard to keep himself warm, and then he looked back to the girl, smirking as he asked, “By the way, my dear, where is your quick-tempered friend?”

A smile graced her lips, it was so peaceful here it was almost worth the trouble getting here. It seemed that nothing would be able to ruin the mood she was in, there certainly wasn’t anything here that would be able to. So why then did she suddenly get the feeling she was going to want to bang her head on one of the near by rocks. A voice rang out in the silence which gave her such a shock that lout out a little yelp sunk under the water. She sighed and a few bubbles came to the surface, today she just wasn’t having any luck. How embarrassing, to be caught by complete surprise like that and it sounded like a male voice which made matters worse. Even she thought that the bathing suit was to revealing but it was the only thing she had meant for water. After taking the time to regain her composer but still not long enough to let the blush leave her face; she rose slightly to the surface. Her grey eyes rested on the person whom ruined her peaceful night. It was official, the Kami’s were out to get her. It figures it would be the lizard demon to catch her at a time like this. But since he was here it wouldn’t do much to be rude, even though it was likely he would probably be. Sure enough he had to comment on her attire, if only he knew what most girls in her time dressed as. He would have a hay day that’s for sure.
”Why Naguri, you would be the last person I would expect to find so far up north. Especially on a night like this, I’m supposed to be use to the cold and even I found it unbearable. If I may take a guess you probably ran into a rather friendly villager on your way here?
If so she was going to make an effort to track that guy down and make his life miserable for at least a week. She drifted off into thought as she ran through all the horrible things she was to do to that villager. Her attention was brought back as he spoke once more.
”I’m afraid like you I’m stuck here for the evening. My human body just isn’t capable of staying in the cold like that.
She pouted slightly, how she missed her old forms at time. Her fox form would have kept her nice and warm in the cold weather. But now wasn’t the time to dwell on that matter. This mans words may have flattered some girls but Yukina had come to learn that most males just say that when they think a girls only good for eye candy. At this thought it only caused her to sink lower into the water so it was up to her chin. He continued on and she couldn’t help but jump to the defense of her friend.
”Kanrya isn’t so bad when once you get to know her, she just isn’t friendly when it comes to strangers. I got much of the same welcome as you had, though I didn’t bait her like you did. And I’m surprised most demons find humans repulsive, I guess I should be flattered that one would think I’m cute.
She couldn’t help but roll her eyes at his comment in her taste of clothing. Under her breath you could here a mumbling about something about being stuck with another perv.
”When we first meet my attire was hardly my choice, all women where I come from are forced to where that ridiculous out fit while attending classes. As for right now I’m not as fortunate as you to have water retardant clothing.”

¡˅¡Nagurikorosu¡˅¡ ¡˅¡Have you heard the news¡˅¡ ¡˅¡That you’re dead?¡˅¡ ¡˅¡I think they never¡˅¡ ¡˅¡Liked you anyway¡˅¡
Keep you in the dark, you know they all pretend.
A smirk spread across his face as he reclined into the water, closing his eyes as though he hadn’t a care in the world; after all, the view was gone since the girl had sunk deeper into the water. Such a shame, that, but it was hardly anything to let dampen his mood. His smirk grew all the more as the girl spoke; so, she did know a thing or two about lizards, perhaps she wasn’t just a pretty face with no brain behind it. Truthfully, he should be worried that the girl knew that he could so easily be weakened by the cold, but Naguri hardly concerned himself with being worried; after all, he was the very arrogant one who believed that no youkai in this entire land could possibly face his might, and that included this girl.
“I wouldn’t say friendly so much as obnoxiously talkative,” he said, “Though he did share some rather interesting information about a certain pack of mutts up this way; it was a shame I couldn’t find them before the cold set in,” he paused, lifting his head to glance at her, “Wouldn’t you agree?”
He chuckled quietly as he let his head rest back again, his sapphire eyes closing again as he continued, “Though I must say, if I had found them, I would have missed this opportunity, and that would have been just terrible.”
Again his quiet chuckle filled the air as the girl spoke again, this time seeking to defend her friend, little miss quick-temper; how amusing. “Oh I’m sure she has a perfectly gooey-soft center to that tough exterior of hers,” he gave a condescending laugh, “My dear, regardless of how that little mix-breed mutt acts, she’s still a youkai, and regardless of how much she tries to fight it, that demon nature will win out in the end,” he smirked, “It is best to simply not fight it, especially when she does such a poor job of it.”
He paused, sending another glance at the girl, “After all, you are the only one who seems to keep her under control; I was hardly even making an effort and she was already prepared to give up her life just to fight me; she would do better to simply accept what she is and live with it, not against it,” he dropped his head back again, “Be a dear and tell her that for me, will you? I would so love to see what she can truly be.”
He paused for a moment in consideration, then continued, “Though I suppose that you, my dear, do not have such a problem, do you? I must admit, sweetheart, that I am quite curious as to what you are; you claim to be a human, but in my experience no human could ever look so cute,” he paused to chuckle at some private joke, “Besides, I can taste demon in your scent,” he lifted his head again to look at her, a hint of seriousness in his gaze, as though for the first time he was actually interested in what she had to say, “So tell me, my dear: what exactly are you?”

Seeing how his eyes were shut she felt it safe enough to sit back up so she wasn’t slouching. Luckily for her the water still covered enough of her, the only view he would get was her bare shoulders. A chuckle escaped her lips, it would have been amusing if he had run into the wolf pack. Kanrya was with them most likely, and it wasn’t as if Naguri was her favorite person in the world. Also since she wasn’t with the temperamental mixed breed there defiantly would have been a fight.
”It is a shame you missed them, I’m sure my quick tempered friend would have loved a visit from you. Same with her pack, after all they accept visitors so kindly that most don’t end up ever leaving.”
It was true most didn’t end up leaving, alive anyways. Kanrya had asked her to stay back just because of that reason. Most of her kind would have loved to get her hands on her as a tasty treat. Personally she didn’t want any mutt drooling over her so she agreed with out a fight. To bad she got a lizard instead, though as Kanrya would say, an incredibly hot lizard. She almost rolled her eyes at that thought, personally she could care less if a guys hot if he had a rotten attitude she wasn’t interested.
”Her temper is her weakness as you surly know. If anyone can use it against her it puts her at a disadvantage. Personally I think that’s a demons worst flaw, they give into there anger far to easily. I’m sure you’ll have to agree on this, for you even though quick to anger some one else seem to have a check on your temper.”
She pushed her wet bangs back and out of her face, a nicely formed bruise was visible on her forehead right where she had hit it earlier. She had almost forgotten all about it until her fingers brushed against it causing her to wince slightly. At the moment she probably hated that cold whether just as much as Naguri. Her attention was once brought back to him as he asked her exactly what she was. A smile spread across her face and a slightly evil glint was gained in her eyes.
”You know I love playing games, its something I’ve enjoyed ever since I was a little girl.”
The mischievous glint in her eyes grew as she floated over and sat next to him. Her smile only grew, she never passed up a chance to keep some one guessing. It just was who she was and since he seemed so curious she just couldn’t help but pass up this moment. The next part she practically purred out.
”So I guess you’ll just have to guess, and if you get it right I might give you a present”

¡˅¡Nagurikorosu¡˅¡ ¡˅¡Have you heard the news¡˅¡ ¡˅¡That you’re dead?¡˅¡ ¡˅¡I think they never¡˅¡ ¡˅¡Liked you anyway¡˅¡
I knew it all along.
The girl’s joke was not lost on him; Naguri may not have been in this land long, but he had certainly not been born yesterday; that garrulous villager had told him all about how territorial the overzealous wolves were. He joined in her chuckle, though his was hardly as pleasant a sound as hers was; but what did you expect from a lizard who hissed every word he spoke?
“So, the little mix-breed is up here too, is she? Well, I am thoroughly disappointed I missed them, then; that would have been quite entertaining, indeed. Perhaps I will track her scent then, in the morning, of course,” he said, smirking; he would indeed enjoy another bout with the mutt.
He chuckled quietly at the girl’s lecture on the weakness of a quick temper; well, wasn’t she the smart little one? “My dear, you don’t live to be a nine century, three decade, and more, old demon with as quick a temper as your friend has, not even in this pathetic land, let alone among my people,” he said, his tone quite condescending.
His sapphire gaze watched her as she smiled, noting the change in her eyes; now what was she up to? He was slightly suspicious; well, that is, until she came over next to him; now this was more like it, the view was much better from over here. His arrogance was enough to make him believe that the change in her eyes had only been her decision to stop playing so hard-to-get, and nothing more. A shame that one who believed he had no weakness was, in that alone, giving himself the biggest weakness of all.
The smirk spread over his face as he reclined back in the water again, his sapphire eyes closing once again, chuckling quietly at her next words, “Well, I can hardly pass up the chance at a present from such a cute girl, now can I?” he asked rhetorically, more to himself than to the girl, though meant to be heard by her all the same; he’d accept this little challenge of hers. After all, there was hardly any honor or challenge in fighting such a girl, but in a battle of wits, now there was some fun.
He was silent for a moment as he collected what he knew about this girl; it would probably be quite the nice relief to the girl, though he did not think of it as such a thing. Even after nine centuries, however, his mind was still quite sharp, and it did not take him long before he had prepared his guess, or at least part of it.
“Well, let’s see, my dear, I believe that you are trying to hide something, and that you have come up with a very clever way of hiding it,” he said, then opened one eye to glance at the girl, “Am I getting close?”

”I’ll just have to come with you in the morning, I’m afraid my nose isn’t what it use to be.”
She smiled as he agreed with her well at least that was one thing they had in common. To bad Kanrya had yet to learn the lesson they had. But that is why Yukina was there, she would eventually teach her how to control her temper. Though a few good beatings from another person would probably do her some good. But when it came to Naguri here he would most likely kill her then ruff her up a bit to teach her a lesson.
It was amusing how easily he was played, in fact this was turning out to be a very entertaining night. His ego would be his downfall, and she couldn’t wait to see the shocked look on his face. When it came to a battle of wits it was hard to beat her, but she never let that go to her head. Ego’s tended to lead to downfalls, a lesson she had learned long ago.
This game also gave her a chance to see how exactly clever this demon was. It would be hard to guess what she was for not many had ever attempted what she had done. To many found humans to despicable to even think about trying it never mind live out an entire human life time as one. Though there was a way for her to revert back to her old form, once she got all her powers of course.
He had made his guess and she smiled as she leaned her head against his shoulder. It would be fun to build up his ego just a bit more before she made it come crashing down. This man was clever, she didn’t doubt he would eventually guess her secret though she was curious to see how close he would get to the entire truth.
”Hai your getting closer, but I might be trying to hide many things. Though you are right, I must say my way of hiding my secretes is very clever. Even my own mother hasn’t noticed I’m hiding something.”
She vaguely wondered how long it would be until he managed to guess, it was getting later into the evening and the warmth of the water had put her in such a relaxed state that sleep was trying to claim her. She stifled a small yawn determined to finish her little game before worrying about sleep.

¡˅¡Nagurikorosu¡˅¡ ¡˅¡Have you heard the news¡˅¡ ¡˅¡That you’re dead?¡˅¡ ¡˅¡I think they never¡˅¡ ¡˅¡Liked you anyway¡˅¡
You’re so predictable.
Ah, yes, now this was indeed quite enjoyable, far more interesting then fighting such a ridiculously easy match as he would have dealt with had he found those pathetic wolves. Yes, sitting in the empowering warmth of a hot spring taking on a battle of wits with a girl who was quite a bit easier on the eyes than many of the komodo girls back home, especially when the girl was quite eager to be close to him, now this was a way to pass the time. Quite the refreshing change from fighting battles that didn’t even pose a challenge.
He smirked as the girl leaned against his shoulder, quite pleased at the action, and completely and blissfully unaware of the plot she was scheming against him right beneath his nose; she was playing him like a fiddle, and he was ignorantly enjoying the tune.
“Well then, my dear, so there is more to you than that pretty little face of yours,” he said, chuckling quietly, “But let’s see then, what could that ‘more’ be? You hang out with that disgraceful mixed-breed, and few youkai would willingly do that, unless they, themselves, had something wrong. Now what defect could be found upon such a pretty little girl?” he paused thoughtfully, smirking as he considered what might be her deep, dark secret.
Among his people, there was not a single incident of half-breeds or mixed-breeds; mixing family blood, perhaps, but never did they tarnish komodo blood with that of a lesser youkai, and definitely not with that of a mortal. But since he had come here, he had found that there was a distinct presence of half-breeds and mixed-breeds among this land; and it would only make since for them to stick together; no matter how against Komodo logic it was, he figured that these soft little youkai would be quite fond of depending on others.
“So my dear,” he began, smirking, “Which is it? Are you a half-breed, or a mix-breed?”

Her big grey eyes looked up at him, not moving her head from its resting spot on his shoulder. To her surprise she found it kind of comfy, it sure beat resting her head on a rock or something like that. She positioned her body so she was leaning against him while still using his shoulder as a pillow. No harm would come if she decided to rest her eyes. After all she took advantage of the silence while he thought over his answer and decided now would be a good time to rest her eyes. Her breathing slowed slightly as she began to drift off into a light nap, but before she could fall into her little dream he voiced his answer. She did not stir at first but soon a light chuckle escaped her lips.
”What would you say if I told you both those answers are correct. The real question is how can they be both correct. I claim I’m human, which I am, but then again you’ve guessed that I’m not. I’ll give you a clue, just because you’ve guessed this far. I was born a full blooded demon, but I was also born as a full blooded human.
Not once did she move from her spot or open her eyes, heck if he was willing to be her pillow why not. This time she would just make sure not to almost fall asleep. She crossed her arms over her chest as she finished getting comfortable. Now would be a good time to figure out how she was going to get dressed with out being gawked at by the lizard. She bet he would love to see her out of the water, though if her planned worked out all he would see would be her feet.
She could picture Kanrya’s face when she found out what she had done. After all who would suspect little cute polite Yui of doing something so wickedly brilliant. Of course those who knew her as Munashii wouldn’t put it past her in a second. The brilliant thief had to be good at playing people to gain such a name for herself. To think one of the most notorious and looked up to demons in history was a mixed breed. She use to be ashamed of the fact that she was part fire and ice Kitsune but now she thought it gave her more of an advantage. After it could be worse, she was a pure blooded Kitsune…just not the same type of Kitsune. Who would suspect a demon to have two powers that differed so much it would be a shocker to any one.
”Sooo have you thought of an answer, you only get a few more chances. I’m growing bored of this game, so you might want to hurry if you wish to receive that present of mine”
The smile returned to her lips, this time her lips curled up enough to show her pearly white teeth.

¡˅¡Nagurikorosu¡˅¡ ¡˅¡Have you heard the news¡˅¡ ¡˅¡That you’re dead?¡˅¡ ¡˅¡I think they never¡˅¡ ¡˅¡Liked you anyway¡˅¡
This isn’t the first time that you left me waiting.
Naguri was quite at ease as the girl continued to lean against him, thoroughly enjoying how willing she was to be so close, though his mind remained on this little game of hers; it was simply too bad that he was too busy trying to find the answer to see how suspiciously she was acting, especially compared to her normal personality. But alas, he was too preoccupied to notice such things, and instead continued to waltz right into her rather obvious trap.
He tilted his head slightly as he considered the girl’s answer; now this was truly quite interesting; now that certainly made the game more interesting. He closed his eyes, relaxing as he simply let his mind puzzle over what she had just said, and what he knew about her; surely the answer was not so hard as to evade him. He was still concentrating when she spoke again, and because his eyes were still closed, he did not see how much her smile widened; or else, he might have been worried, but he would not get even that chance to save himself.
“I must say, my dear, you are quite the mystery,” he said, grinning a bit, “but, mysteries are meant to be solved, are they not? And I do believe I might have solved yours; I do hope you have that present of yours handy,” he added, chuckling quietly before he began to explain his theory.
“You say that you were born as both a demon and as a human, but for that to happen, you must have been born twice. You said that I was also correct in saying you were a mixed breed, so I am willing to bet that you were born as a mixed-breed in your first life—and given your love of these little games, I’m guessing that fox was in there some where—but, because of how mixed breeds are treated, sought some way to be accepted,” he paused, collecting his thoughts for a moment, then continued, “So you would have had two options: becoming one of the two types of demon you were mixed of, or becoming a human, and since mixed breeds are so often weaker than their pure-bred youkai brethren, my guess is that it was not possible for you to find a way to move up the power hierarchy, and so you opted to move down the hierarchy, and found a way to become a human, at which point you were born into your second life as a full-blooded human. I must say, it would be quite the interesting choice, but you are, after all, quite the interesting girl, my dear.”
He lifted his head and looked down at the girl where she leaned on his shoulder, smirking as he asked, “Am I right this time, sweetheart?”

How easy it was to play with this mans ego, he was so full of himself that he didn’t think for a second that she could be up to no good. It wasn’t like she was trying to be that sneaky about it either, but she was really to tired at the moment to put any real effort into it, though it was hardly needed. To think it had been over 500 years since she messed with a demons head, it was quiet refreshing. Humans weren’t as fun to toy with, but even they would have noticed her acting suspiciously. But that would just make his defeat even sweeter when he would realize his error. How sad it was to loose one battle which in this case would also loose you the war.
”Don’t worry about the present, I already have it ready.”
She opened her eyes and gave him one of her cutest smiles, back at home it always made the worst bad ass of guys go awww. His little theory would prove interesting, and so it was. He even managed to guess that she was at least part Kitsune, thinking it over a bit she thought that would be enough to allow him to receiver her ‘present’. It was a shame he guessed so soon, she had gotten really comfortable and not to mention her little game distracted him from gawking at her. But all good things eventually have to come to an end. She sat up from her position and floated back over to her original spot. Now even though she was about to crush his ego into the ground she would be a little nice and let him believe for a bit he was going to get something good. She stood up in the water allowing him to get a nice view of her back as she fished through her stuff and pulled out a beaded fang necklace. Now that she had it she sunk back into the water and went back to Naguri.
”This has been in my family for a while now, so you should feel pretty special that I’m giving it up.”
Luckily for her they both were around the same height so she didn’t have to get out of the water that much to place the beads around his neck. Once they where over his head she wrapped her arms around his neck and leaned against him. There faces were only an inch apart and a smile spread across her lips. She planned on giving him the exact answer to her little game and at the same time she would perform the exact hand signals needed to activate the necklace. Of course since her arms were currently draped across his neck he wouldn’t realize what she was doing, not to mention he would probably be distracted with there close proximity.
”Your answer was very close, but I was a full blooded Kitsune my parents didn’t mix with other species. Though I assure you was the most well known mixed breed of my time, not to mention my powers were at a level that would give even the most pure breed demon a run for there money. The sad thing is that even with that brilliant guess of yours you got my reason for changing into a human completely wrong.”
Her smile grew as she allowed there noses to touch for only a brief second before pulling away completely. It was time to bring her little teasing game to an end and she was sure it would be a splash. The activation was complete now all she would have to do was spring the trap word on him.
”To bad you didn’t guess that one right, otherwise you may have known better then to trust the notorious Munashii. Isn’t that right…Worm Legs.
The evil look on her face was completely present now, when she felt like turning against some one she certainly didn’t hold back much.

I should just stay home.
It was truly amazing the effect a girl’s smile could have on even the toughest, most arrogant men; no matter who the man was, where he came from, what he had done, or what he acted like, the effect was always the same: complete disarmament. Having guessed, only moments before, that this little cutie was at least part kitsune, he should have been extremely worried at the outcome of this little game, but even if his arrogance and ego would have let up enough for him to begin to worry, that smile would have killed those thoughts dead.
He was even further disarmed as she went to retrieve his present, giving him quite the view as she did so; quite an enjoyable moment for him, to be sure. He watched her, a pleasant grin on his face, as she came back over, holding what looked to be just a simple fang necklace; well, it may not be much, but he had said earlier that he couldn’t refuse a gift from such a girl, and he could hardly go back on that now. He continued to grin as she placed the beads around his neck, adding her arms only a moment after.
Another man, perhaps one more modest, might have been embarrassed at the sudden closeness of the girl, another, more romantic one, might have tried to make a move on the girl. Naguri was neither of these things; instead, he simply sat back and enjoyed the moment, returning the girl’s smile with a grin of his own as she spoke.
It was only when her smile grew and she pulled away when he first began to suspect something might be wrong; his brain began to process what she had said, and his instincts were screaming at him now that something wasn’t right; it is a true pity, however, that he did not give them a chance to take over earlier, and now it was too late. Even now, he couldn’t quite place what it was that was off, though his instincts had picked up on the aura of the spell being activated on his neck, though he was still far too at ease for that to register in his mind.
Nor did he get a chance for it to register in his mind; his mind did not even get a chance to register the name Munashii before the throbbing aura around his neck became suddenly much stronger and promptly went dropping to the ground, taking Naguri with it in a fantastic display of splashing water.
It was several moments later when he realized even remotely what had happened; one moment he had been watching the girl, the next, here he was at the bottom of the hot spring staring at the ground; hardly as pleasing a sight. In either of his other forms, Naguri would have been able to last in such conditions for quite a while before resurfacing; sadly, his human form was unable to manage such a thing.
It took about two seconds for him to get out of the water and onto solid, dry land.
He did not gasp for air, or pant, or perform any of the other actions customary to one who had just been so violently pulled under water; instead, he simply took a deep breath, pushed his wild hair back out of his face, and turned a rather withering look on the girl, his face no longer the pleasant grin he had been wearing before.
He did not speak for many moments; instead, his dark blue eyes merely studied her, their color alternating between sapphire and ruby as the inner demon battled to be let loose, to fight whatever it was that had just attacked him. It did not take him much effort to subdue it, however, nor did it take him long to send it away completely, his eyes returning to a steady sapphire. Finally having regained his composure, the youkai gave a malicious smirk, more the look of a beast standing over the prey it was toying with than the look of anything remotely human.
“Well, girl, that was quite the trick; care to try that one again?” he hissed, his voice closer to the gravelly one of his other forms than the slightly smoother one of his current form; he was quite sure he would catch her this time before she managed that again; he wasn’t about to let his guard drop around this little Siren.

Ahh such a feeling it was to watch the final actions of her plan come into play. She couldn’t help but let out a string of melodic laughter. Not once she could remember that she laughed as hard as this especially in front of another person. The evil look had left her eyes and had been replaced by sheer amusement. Her fit of laughter only increased as he pulled himself out of the water with more dignity then a person should have after an experience as demeaning as that. It was a shame he lost that cute grin of his, but it was to be expected after a blow to his ego such as a young human girl catching him by surprise. She regained control over her fit of giggles and wiped the tears away that had formed from the non stop laughter. Her breaths were slightly heavier as she tried to regain the oxygen that she had lost. By the glare he was giving her he was more then less then pleased with what had happened.
His eyes kept changing color, much like Kanrya’s did when she was angered. Luckily she knew enough he would most likely take control of his demon blood for it was him who said he was good at controlling his anger. A soft smile crossed her face as she leaned back in the water relaxing slightly. Now it was her turn to be amused by his actions. As expected it wasn’t long for the look on his face to change toward something more menacing. She only chuckled some more as he spoke, it was now clear to her he still didn’t know what hit him.
”I doubt you could do much to stop me, Worm Legs.”
As he went down Yukina took the time to grab a towel from her things and get out of the water and quickly wrapped it around herself. She turned her kind gaze back over to the demon. Back in the past she might have taunted him and point out how his flaws got him into the mess he was in. Though she was kind hearted now and thought his ego would have enough bruising for one night.
”You I’m afraid have just lost the war, with just those two simple words that necklace of yours will bring you down to eat dirt. I also should mention that I’m the only one, who can take it off you, which I doubt will be happening anytime soon. I’m sorry but I usually don’t take kindly to those who insult my friends. Since we’re stuck here for the night and your going to need me to get down the mountain tomorrow I suggest we try to get along. I give you my word now that I’ll play no further tricks on you.”
Her tone and behavior had reverted back to normal, it was plain to anyone with eyes that she was sincere in her last comments. It was also true that Naguri would need Yui to get back down the mountain, for it was likely the snow and cold would remain far into the day especially so far up in the mountains. Since she was part fire Kitsune she would be able to keep him warm long enough to get him down the mountain. Plus she was planning on trailing him when he went in search for the wolf pack.

I saw this coming still I don’t know why.
He didn’t understand. It made no sense what so ever. What was it that this girl was doing? What had she done already? How in the great Komodo islands had she bested him? These and many other thoughts flashed through his head in the aftermath of the second time of his being slammed violently to the ground, effectively kissing the dirt; hardly as pleasant or enjoyable an action as it would have been had it been the girl instead of the ground, though his mind was far gone beyond such thoughts; he simply could not, for all his arrogance and ego, believe that she had bested him. It just wasn’t possible. Never could a mixed-breed little upstart of a human disgrace best a nine century old Dokusatsu son. It just could not happen.
And yet here he was, kissing the dirt, at the mercy of that very girl. He couldn’t understand it. His fangs were bared slightly in a soundless hiss as he pulled himself off the ground and stood again, his eyes once again displaying the battle between himself and his demon blood, though this time it calmed much quicker; still, the damage was done, for he had not enough control for the Hen’You, and so he had not been able to harden his skin to scale for the second impact, leaving his face sore, though his body was too toughened for it to hurt long.
Again the youkai maintained his dignity as he brushed the dirt from his clothes and stood proudly, his eyes closing for a brief moment as he regained his full composure. He leaned his head back and opened his eyes, staring into the sky as the girl began to speak. Even he had to admit that she had bested him; his brain still could not make the connection, and he still could not understand how, but some way, she had bested him. His eyes closed again as he dropped his head, shaking it slightly in pure disbelief. He grinned slightly, though it was likely to be hidden by the shadow his hair cast over his downcast face; she may not be the brilliant strategist or great fighter that his sister was, but just the same, this girl had bested him as surely as Shiryou used to do.
Perhaps it was the fact that he had just had the sense knocked clean out of him; perhaps it was the fact that those falls had actually knocked some sense into him; or perhaps it was just the fact that the warmth of this area had gone to his head. In any case, for whatever reason, Naguri’s pride actually allowed him to have some small amount of respect for the girl; and of course, it was only fitting for him to do so; after all, she had just introduced him to a new enemy named dirt, and without even lifting a finger, at that. However, no matter how fitting it was, it was completely and utterly against his character to have any respect for one outside the Dokusatsus; and yet, here he was, face-planted into respecting the girl.
Finally, the youkai lifted his gaze, his eyes fully sapphire now that he had completely regained his composure, and looked at the girl, chuckling quietly, “Well my dear, I suppose you do have a point,” he said quietly, his voice back to the smoother tones of this form, the grin from before back on his face, “I was not born yesterday, and I can see full well what would happen if I tried to force you to remove this cursed thing from me; rest assured, I do not plan to humiliate myself in the attempt,” he paused, tilting his head as he considered something.
“However, I will not lower myself as to accept your help; I made it here on my own, and I will leave on my own; I advise you do not try and follow me in the morning; even if I cannot do anything to harm you, I am far more equipped to defend myself than you are, my dear, and I am quite familiar with some of the more dangerous places in this world.”
Leaving the threat in the air, the youkai crouched in front of his belongings, running a hand along his shirt to rid it of some of the water before he began to pull on his boots; he had no intention of staying here any longer than he had to, and though he would have to remain until morning, he would be ready to leave as soon as he could; respect or not, he would not spend any more time around this girl if he could help it.

As he was kissing the dirt she took the chance to grab her clothes and walk off a good distance to where no peeping eyes would be able to spy. She quickly got dressed in her Miko attire and returned just in time to see him pull himself back up. This time he seemed to hold his temper in check a little better, and she couldn’t help noticed the slightly red tinge to his face which caused her to giggle slightly. Now if only he had whacked his head on a rock and got a bruise, then they could have matched. It was however good to hear that he would not be attempting to force her to remove the beads. Though his decline in her request he would learn in the morning was not a very wise one. Either way she was going to trail him, she knew the area well enough and had been through most of the more dangerous places. After all she was over 700 years old, and most of that time she had to fend for herself. Even in her human state their where only a hand full of yokai who could defeat her, and one of them was just knocked off her list. Even in her mortal body she was a very capable and agile fighter and for what she lacked in strength she made up with smarts. She shrugged her shoulders showing she heard his threat, it wouldn’t do her any good to tell him she planned to fallow him anyways. The weather was most likely going to be bad tomorrow and she would make it just that much worse. Eventually he would be needing her help if he was to survive in such snowy conditions. Tomorrow even she might have to use some of her powers to stay warm enough to get down the mountain.
She went back over to her pack and took out a brush, it would be best if she tied it into a braid now for it her wet hair made the nights air that much colder, even the springs heat felt cold. One of the few reasons having long hair was such a pain was it took so long to brush. She sat in silence as she continued the tenuous job of de knotting her long locks. Once smooth and silky as it would ever be she began to braid it to the point where her own hands couldn’t reach. Now this certainly was a tough spot, usually when she decided to braid her hair her mother would finish it for her. She looked over at Naguri with pleading eyes, hoping he would know how to braid and finish doing her hair. Even she thought she was slightly crazy for doing this but it was worth a shot.
”Ummmm Naguri kun could you help me please?
Now if there was one thing she was the master at it was the puppy dog face. Which she currently was using. Sure Yukina was a prideful girl but when it came to her hair she wasn’t afraid to ask for help considering if she attempted to do the rest it would come out awful and the knots would be twice as worse.
