Ren danced along with the crowd, enjoying herself even though she wasn’t the most graceful human being on the planet. She let others take the limelight now. Still caught up in the moment, she grinned and laughed at strangers, her otherwise light-colored cheeks flushed scarlet. Her eyes flashed with reflected lights, and her body moved naturally enough. She had missed events like these. Not since being in America had she done anything like this.
Laughing, she found herself dancing along with a group of young women, including the one she’d persuaded to dance with her before. That one glanced at Renée a couple times, and Ren grinned when she did, imagining that maybe she’d found a new friend. Then Ren realized that the other girls would glance at her every now and then, and it was then that the tall girl suddenly began to feel awkward again. She lost the feel of the moment, suddenly feeling very awkward in her high heels and her short dress. Why were they looking at her, anyway? Was she looking stupid? What was with her? She wasn’t a dancer! She couldn’t do this! With an awkward smile, she ducked out of the group the first chance she saw and navigated her way through the bodies, but thankfully she was close enough to the edge that she was soon clear.
The tall girl’s eyes, darker now that the lights weren’t flashing in them, scanned the tables, searching for Tsuyoi. But spots of color still swarmed in her vision, and she blinked rapidly, a vaguely surprised look crossing her features. She reached up to rub her eyes, only to pull her fingers away faintly turned blue from her eye shadow. [green]Oh, that’s perfect,[/green] she thought. Licking her lips, she tasted a combination of sweat and lip gloss. Finally, she recognized Tsuyoi, and began making her way towards him, when she saw that there was some other guy standing by him.
She paused awkwardly, halfway between the dance floor and Tsuyoi, staring at the man who stood behind her escort. Who was this guy? What was she supposed to do now? She was tempted to escape back onto the dance floor, but she didn't want to dance any more. She was a little leery of meeting somebody new.

The older man blinked, the choke hold he had on Tsuyoi tightening as his eyes set on Renee. "Tsu, she's looking this way! Quick, lure her in with your 'I don't care' attitude, chicks love it!" Tsuyoi lost his nerve with the older man moved his head back, hitting the guy in the chin who fell backward, gripping the injured area. "The hell Tsu?! That was uncalled for!"
Tsuyoi ignored him, getting up from his chair as he chugged the last of his drink and went to Renee, quickly changing his speech to English. "Are you done dancing?" he asked, acting as if nothing had happened between him and the strange man. The man seemed hurt, he pouted and his chin was slightly red. He whined and sulked as he got himself off the floor. "Ignore him, he's an idiot."

Even as Tsuyoi spoke to her, Ren’s mind and eyes wandered, towards the stranger who was acting more injured than necessary as he “writhed” on the floor. When Tsuyoi said, [brown]“Ignore him, he’s an idiot,”[/brown] the taller girl returned her darkened eyes to her almost-friend’s face. The other man was way overdramatic, anyway. [green]“Sure, no problem,”[/green] she said, a little more scathingly than she intended.
Still, she glanced at the other man again, who was now rising back to his feet. If nothing else, he seemed slightly entertaining… more so than the stoic Tsuyoi, anyway. If the stranger was overdramatic, Tsuyoi was too… not.
[green]“Wait…”[/green] she amended, sounding less critical now and more curious as she established those facts in her mind. [green]“Who is he, anyway? A friend of yours? Can you introduce me?”[/green] Renee sidestepped Tsuyoi, her wondering eyes focused on the amusing stranger, and took a few hesitant steps towards him. Then she stopped and turned towards the more familiar man, her eyebrows raised questioningly.

Tsuyoi frowned, eyes narrowing in annoyance. Introduce her to that man? He wished he she hadn't asked. He sighed and turned. "Not a friend." he said simply, looking back at the man who was looking at the two curiously and then grinned. "That's Tadaima, a business partner." He said, gesturing to the man who continued to grin and raised a hand in a strange hello. "Tadaima, this is Renee." Tsuyoi glanced at her. "Happy?" He couldn't believe he had to introduce them. Why did Tadaima have to be here!?

Renée was a little taken aback by Tsuyoi’s brusqueness. Of course, she undoubtedly should have been expecting it. The guy was just like that. However, while Tadaima was quite sure that girls were attracted to that aspect of Tsuyoi’s personality (not that she knew he’d said that), the only thing about Tsuyoi that she found attractive was in his looks. She sort of questioned why she was trying to be friends with him, if he was going to be this unfriendly. As a matter of fact, she found outgoing, cheery men to be rather more alluring.
The tall girl smiled, a little shyly, in Tadaima’s direction. [green] “Hello, Tadaima. It is nice to meet you.” [/green]For some reason, it made sense in her head that, since Tadaima was a business partner, she should greet him in a business-like manner. She stuck out her hand for him to shake, a little awkwardly, and decidedly ignored Tsuyoi’s being all impatient with her. She found this Tadaima fellow interesting. What was the harm in that?

Tadaima grinned, happy to know that Tsuyoi knew this women. He straightened himself, accepting Renee's hand and leanding down to kiss the back of it. Tsuyoi watched with annoyance and irritation as the action was done. "It is very nice to meet you too." he said with a smile as Tsuyoi sighed. "What's a cutie like you doing with someone like Tsu?"

Air was sharply drawn between a pair of glossy lips as Tadaima bent down to kiss the back of Ren’s hand. The teenage girl felt heat flood her already blush-covered cheeks. She couldn’t really understand the majority of the words that this acquaintance was saying to her, but he’d kissed her on the hand! Things like that didn’t typically happen… well, amongst certain groups of her friends they did, but not often to her. And certainly this didn’t happen with strangers! This man raised Ren’s interest, for sure.
[green]“Hello…”[/green] she breathed again, stumbling around in her mind as she frantically searched for something intelligent to say, or at least come to a decision as to what she was going to do about this man.
Finally, it seemed that the happy, bouncy, energetic atmosphere of the whole place she was in was coming back to her, and she grinned, blinking away her moment of frenetic confusion. She straightened slightly, correcting a very minor slouch, and decided, [green]Why the hell not? I’m probably never going to see this guy again. “I am sorry, I do not speak Japanese well,”[/green] she apologized. Then, with a surprisingly inviting smile and tilt of the head, she asked, [green]“Have you danced tonight?”[/green] The unspoken question was, of course, Would you like to dance with me?

Tadaima grinned, smiling down at her and seemingly ignorant of her blushing and reaction to his antics. For a man older then the two he was rather slow on such things. But he was one to catch not spoken or hinted words. And he grinned. "Not with you I haven't." He said, quickly taking her hand and escorting her back to the dance floor.
Tsuyoi groaned, falling back into his chair as he watched with annoyance as Tadaima took away Renee'. He was ready to go and now that damned man had to take over. He sighed, ordering another drink.

Breath shaking with excitement, Ren allowed herself to be led back towards the dance floor. Her feet shook in their cream-colored high-heels, and she nearly toppled. By some miracle, she managed not to.
Suddenly she stopped walking, probably forcing Tadaima to stop as well. She wondered what in the world she was doing. She. Did. Not. Dance! She had tried before, hadn’t she? People had looked at her strangely, hadn’t they? Ren nervously bit her bottom lip, and again she tasted the lip gloss she had used. Her eyes roved around the dance floor, watching the people move with what to her seemed to be grace. Mostly, they really just looked like they were having fun. Her eyes settled on Tadaima, and again, she thought to herself, [green]What the hell![/green]
She gave the man a small smile and blinked at him, exposing the eye shadow that matched her blue dress. [green]“I am sorry,”[/green] she mumbled. [green]“My… erm… shoe…”[/green] Trying to laugh off her moment of hesitation, and what was probably going to be a horrible attempt at dancing that would make Tadaima regret taking Ren here, she laughed, [green]“Come on! Dance with me!”[/green] And with that, she took the lead and pulled the man into the crowd of dancers, pretending that her bout of reasonable fear never occurred. She slowed as she worked into the crush of people, not facing Tadaima, hoping he would take some initiative again and she would be able to figure out what to do from there.

Tadaima excitedly moved toward the dance floor, pausing when she stopped. He frowned, questioning her without saying anything. He accepted her explanation easily, continuing to the crowded area with the loud music and flashing lights. Except this time she was leading. He grinned, keeping a hold on her hand as he forced room for the two, just enough for them to dance amongst themselves.
Tsuyoi watched the two dance until they were overcome by the crowd and he couldn't see them anymore. He checked his watch, wondering how much sleep he'd be able to get tonight. He wondered why Renee was so interested, but found that he didn't care.

The previous song was ending, and a new one was starting. It was the perfect time to start dancing with somebody new, too. This knowledge must’ve been some sort of female instinct on Ren’s part, because if she’d left everything up to her brain, she wouldn’t be dancing at all. But the atmosphere, the palpable energy, the flashing lights, the pulsing music, was too much for one’s brain to handle, especially when one was embraced on all sides by dancers, but with just enough space to dance oneself. Ren spun to face her partner, and before she could further overthink things and stop yet again, she started to dance.
Now, back in the States, Ren hadn’t exactly been to many school dances and whatnot, hadn’t been to a very large number of parties outside the school. So she wasn’t what you would call the most experienced dancer. But there was a steady beat to the music, and the tall girl started to move her body, slowly and uncertainly. At the encouragement of some suggestive lyrics, which she managed to understand despite the language, she loosed her muscles and freed her body to the will of the song. Because of the space, she was pressed close to Tadaima, undoubtedly closer than she should be with a man that she barely knew. But there was the constant, freeing motions of her arms, her waist, her legs. Not entirely sure how it happened, about halfway through the song, (if Tadaima would allow for it, of course), her arms were around his neck, and she was laughing.
