Merodi was surprised by Koga's reaction, she frowned, staring at him in confusion. Why did he act so surprised? Well, she knew he knew practically nothing about her past, but he reacted in such a worrying manner. She glanced at Soothsayer, who seemed to be enjoying the reaction given by Koga. She blinked, taking in the questions. The last she wasn't sure she understood, there were a lot of things that he could mean by that. But it slowly sunk in.
"Skoll was my chosen mate by my father, he visited a lot when I was little. But I wouldn't be able to be his to do so with until I was fifteen. But..."
Soothsayer interrupted, smiling wistfully and closing his eyes as if to reminisce of a memory that wasn't his. "Ah, yes, the coming age of a female. Being the leader's daughter made you so much more valuable."

Memories of her mother's picture, her father and many other things rushed through her mind as she sang, sadness seeping into her voice...
"I'm too tired to listen, I'm too old to believe, all these childish stories, There is no such thing as faith, and trust and pixie dust... I try! But It's so hard to Believe, I try, But I cna't se what you see, I try, I try... I try..."
Koneko thought of how she'd felt around Soothsayer, and when he interracted with other's with wonderful singing voices... She shook her head violently. "Childish nonsense, selfishness jealousy... that's all it is!" She hissed and continued singing,
"My whole world is changing, I don't know where to turn, I can't leave you behind, But I can't stay and watch the city burn, Watch it Burn..."
She chucked another rock into the water, walking along the river, not seeing, or caring where she was going... "Nothing but longing for the affectiuon of osmeoen who's ahrdly ever there..." She said. "I'm just na ungrateful wrech aren't I?" She asked her reflection as she walked, and sang the next lines.
"I try, But it's so hard to believe, I try, but I can't see what you see, I try, I try..." I try and try to understand the distance inbetween, The love I feel, and the things I fear in every single dream..."
"Love..." Koneko murmured. "The one thing I fear and hate... but, with Soothsayer..." "I don't know anything about this, and I shouldn't care... I'll only hurt myself when playing with fire." Koneko felt a tear run down her face as she whispered the rest of the song, running her hands in the water once again, not even wincing at the feeling of the frost cold water at all.
"I can finally see it Now I have to believe All those precious stories, All the world is made of faith, and trust, and pixie dust So, i'll try cause I finally believe I'll try cause I can see what you see I'll try, I'll try...."

Koga took a step back from Merodi, letting her shoulders go. Mate? Leader’s daughter? What the hell? Merodi had never told him any of this! He’d had no idea! The wolf demon felt like a complete and utter fool. He hated that feeling. What was worse, though, was that it seemed like he didn’t know anything about the woman he loved. He knew she’d had a rotten past, that she didn’t want to talk about it, but mate? Leader’s daughter? She could have at least mentioned these things!
The wolf demon stared at his mate, his face reproachful. Had she been trying to keep secrets from him or something? He stared at her soft, beautiful face, and his heart ached painfully in his chest as he looked into her eyes. You know what? He didn’t care if she’d done things with other men. He didn’t care about what kind of family she was born into, or whatever the hell else she was keeping from him. Still, he felt betrayed. What, did Merodi not trust him or something? Koga’s face, which he’d tried so hard to look serious and manly, crumpled then. He just looked how he felt: hurt. [brown]“Why didn’t you ever tell me?”[/brown] he asked her.

Merodi's frown deepened to see Koga so hurt. Was it wrong he hadn't known? Should she have told him sooner? Was it really that important? Even Soothsayer was a little taken back by Koga and he frowned, more confused then worried like the deer female. She wasn't sure how to handle the situation. She didn't want him to be so upset. The past was the past, wasn't it?
"I didn't tell you because I thought it didn't matter...that life is dead. There is nothing left of it."
Soothsayer frowned, looking away from the two as he recalled what Merodi spoke of. That horrible incident that ruined the life he had wished his beloved would have. "Merodi was taken by the human lord before her fifteenth birthday." he smiled sadly, keeping his gaze elsewhere, and having it land on the waterfall. "You didn't really like Skoll, did you?"
Merodi didn't reply, seemingly ashamed to admit that she hadn't liked her father's choice, to seemingly go against his wishes. But for Koga's sake, in case he didn't understand her way of thinking, she shook her head.

Koneko didn't know when she began crying, she didn't knwo if it was after she finished her song, or after she suddenly sliped on a rock and crie dout as she went tumbling into the water.
Now she was just sitting in the shallow water crying softly and shivering violently from the cold, totally drenched.
She knew why she was cryign though, she was cold, she was lonly, and she was just so confused. And she hated being confused, espically about feelings towards others... but Soothsayer was diffrent.

Koga’s gaze switched back and forth between Merodi and Soothsayer. Merodi was right, probably. The past was the past. After all, had Koga ever told Merodi about the feelings he’d used to have for Kagome, the priestess who had once healed the deer demoness? And apparently, she hadn’t liked this Skoll person so much. Everything was okay, right? Koga felt all the more foolish. Slowly, like a sulky child, he shuffled back closer to his deer demon mate. [brown]“…Yeah, I guess it doesn’t matter,”[/brown] he muttered after a moment of being close to Merodi, but staring down at his feet. [brown]“You just surprised me is all. I didn’t know…” [/brown] He trailed off then. The wolf demon bit the inside of his cheek, then lifted his chin so he could look in Merodi’s eyes.
The hurt, the indignation, the feelings swarmed in Koga’s pallid eyes for a moment. But locking with Merodi’s gaze, those eyes that were so obviously concerned, those eyes that couldn’t ever hurt Koga, not really—looking at her, the wolf demon felt his troubled heart ease a little. Slowly, a little hesitantly, almost afraid that she was going to pull away when he tried, the wolf demon lowered his forehead until it touched hers. [brown]“…yeah,”[/brown] he whispered, and his eyes fluttered closed. A little piece of his heart echoed his whisper, though, wondering what other secrets Merodi kept locked away. As an honest, wear-your-heart-on-your-sleeve type of fellow, any form of concealment or dishonesty left Koga feeling at least a little unsettled. But he tried his best to smother his doubts.

Merodi smiled, glad that Koga was a little better now. Still her past seemed to bother him. "If there's anything you want to know, just ask." she said, ready to help him anyway she could. If he wanted to know, she'd tell him. No matter how much it would bother her.
Soothsayer grinned, and in a moment to ruin the mood, he moved behind Koga and smacked him in the back. He knew it wouldn't hurt, since there was armor there, but probably something that in a normal situation, a friend would do, not himself. But in doing so, he pushed the wolf forward a bit and made Merodi stumble backward. She caught herself and Soothsayer paid no mind.
"I'm glad you're better about the situation Koga. Well, I think it's time for me to go. I'll come back a later time."

Koneko crawled out of the water and stood, begining to walk back, only to fall back down because she tripped over a root. But she just stood up again and wiped off her dirty, drenched, pants. She took a deep breath and sighed, all tears or any sign of them were gone, she hadn't rubbed her eyes, so the redness wouldn't come up easier. She shook her head to try and get the last remaining water out of her hair. She walked back to the river, waiting for Soothsayer to come, she was shivering still, but not as much as before.

Merodi’s words calmed Koga’s raging emotions. Okay, he could accept her words. He trusted that his mate was honest, or at least he wanted to. It was easy to accept that she would tell him anything he wanted to hear. He felt his bad feelings being smothered efficiently, just like he felt Merodi’s soft, fuzzy skin against his forehead.
And then his skull pretty much crashed into his mate’s as he was suddenly shoved forward. [brown] “What the hell?”[/brown] Koga roared, reacting fast enough to use his hands to steady Merodi before whirling on Soothsayer. Ugh! That deer male had this horribly smug look on his ugly mug. Koga’s reaction to that look on the other male’s face was instantaneous: he flung up his foot and went to plant it in Soothsayer’s chest, definitely putting enough force into it to hurt, and to fling the deer demon straight out of the cave through the pounding curtain of waterfall. [brown]“You stupid jackass! I’m gonna kick you straight to the mainland, you bastard!”[/brown]

Merodi almost shrieked in alarm seeing Koga kick Soothsayer. She brought her hands to her mouth, forcing it back and bringing herself to be silent. If only to not wake up Tempa. She stared, wide eyed at the waterfall that deer god dissapeared through before slowly staring wide eyed at Koga. She was suddenly very afraid. "Do you realize what you just did?!" she half-way yelled, and realizing her loud voice toned it down. "Soothsayer-sama will not take this lightly! What would make you do that!?"
The kick was so unexpected that Soothsayer didn't take the time to gaurd himself against it. In the end, he ended up landing on his rear out of the cave and on the hard stone outside. Soaked from the waterfall, he felt his face flush in anger and emberassment. How dare that wolf! "You'll regret every minute of it!!" he yelled back his reply, and wondered if the wolf could even hear him through the crashing of the waterfall. He tried to stand, his clothes weighing him down with the water and he tried to wring it out the best he could. He muttered under his breathe, imagining ways to punish Koga. Of course, being humiliated as he had been, he didn't want to show his face in the cave for a while. He'd have to find another time to be with Merodi.
Soothsayer left, deciding it was time to go back to Koneko. He was surprised to find her in almost the same state as he when it came to being drenched in water. He frowned, bringing himself closer to her. "Awe, sweetie, what happened to you?" He touched her face lightly, where a smudge of dirt from her fall was still there.

Koneko shrugged, "I htink I should be asking you that question, what happend up there? Did you pushed too many of Koga's buttons?" She asked, complet;ly avoiding the question... Koneko then rubbed her eyes, still feeling alittle wetness. But when she realized she jsut gave Soothsayer a dead give away to her crying, she nearly cursed, but held her tongue just incase he didn't notice anything...

Koga started and spun around when Merodi started talking. He was vaguely surprised by the horror in her honest eyes, but he was too busy feeling insulted and pissed to do much about it. [brown]“I don’t care how he takes it!”[/brown] the wolf demon retorted. [brown] “He should be worried for himself, the bastard! Nobody can just shove me like that.”[/brown] At the end, the demon’s voice lowered to a grumble, and he turned to look back at the waterfall. He had just barely heard Soothsayer’s voice from underneath the constant rumble of the liquid. Koga glowered for a moment, then flicked his head in his mate’s direction for a moment. [brown]“If he wants to fight, I’ll fight!”[/brown]
Meanwhile, the violent commotion had attracted a posse of wolf demons from the tribe, both those who had canine and human forms. “Yeah!” one of them called out. “Can’t just take that,” another agreed, continuing, “What kind of leader would that make him?” The other demons nodded emphatically. Koga, hearing all this, turned and looked at his gathered demons. He nodded to them briefly, then spun around and shot out of the cave. For a moment, water pounded against his shoulders, and then he landed on the riverside, looking for Soothsayer. As the other wolf demons started to follow him out of the cave, their leader charged off after the deer male.
The wolf demon leader skidded to a halt just feet from Soothsayer, where he stood with Koneko. The others of his tribe were still hurrying to catch up. [brown] “You want a fight?”[/brown] Koga challenged, settling into a battle stance. [brown]“I’ll give you a fight! Come on, try that again, you… you… you bastard!”[/brown]

Soothsayer smiled sheeply at Koneko. She knew oh so well. Of course, he hadn't done anything bad! Koga was the one who over reacted! The fool. He frowned as he stared at her. There was no way that he could not see those tears. Feeling guilty, he went to speak when the brash Koga appeared.
The deer male wasn't expecting his appearance, but seemed unphased by him. He stood up straight, turning himself to look at Koga. He brought the rest of his tribe with him. Did they want a show? He had no intention of fighting the wolf. There was no way he could win one on one. That didn't make him completely back down. A large grin spread across his face. "Oh Koga, come now, can't you see I'm busy? My beloved needs me, you're going to have to wait your turn."
Merodi had finally joined up with them, Tempa in tow since the yelling and the commotion in the cave had awoken the girl. She paused for a moment, telling the child to stay in the distance a bit before coming up to the angry Koga. She grabbed his arm, about ready to pull him away. "Koga, let's go, you can't fight him!" Hoping that her mate would try and listen to her she turned her attention to the deer male. "I'm so sorry Soothsayer-sama."

KOneko sighed and rubbed he rforehead, lsightly thankful to Koga for the interupption. "Soothsayer, can we just go? I'm not in the mood to even try breaking up a fight with a bunch of block heads." Koneko commented dryly. She looked at Koga. "Listen, if he offended you, I apologize for him. But he IS a demon god, they expect to be respected and stuff... I think..."

Koga ignored mostly everything the two females were saying. They were trying to apologize for their respective men. Ha! Apologize for them? Why did women always think that could possibly settle things? Something like this couldn’t be settled by womanly words, but by brute force, in one decisive and glorious fight! Only a fight could decide who was right and who was beaten. The wolf demon pulled his arm out of Merodi’s grip, muttering, [brown]“Stand back.”[/brown] He lifted his fists, cocking his head to one side and starting to grin a little.
[brown]“I’m not afraid to fight!”[/brown] he yelled, loud enough for all to hear. [brown] “I’m no coward! Are you a coward, Soothsayer?” [/brown]The wolf demon started to bounce on the balls of his feet, rocking forward and back, challenging the deer male with a cocky glare. Koga’s fists and fighter’s blood were up, and he was ready for a good scrap! It’d been too long since a good fight, anyway. There were so many reasons to fight Soothsayer, here and now!
Behind Koga, his tribe of wolf demons took up a chant. “Coward, coward, coward!” they egged, eager to see their great leader in action. They wanted to see this fight! It would be the best entertainment they’d had in a long while.
