[pink]“I’m so sorry!”[/pink] Aiko apologized, plopping down on the ground and resting her back against a thick-bellied tree. [pink]“I don’t really know where we are. I got lost again.”[/pink] Sahoni probably shouldn’t have let Aiko take the lead. Her inner compass was constantly in a tailspin, and it didn’t ever point to north. The girl scratched at an itch on her scalp, her slim fingers running through her messy brown hair. With a blink, she peered up through the green-dappled canopy. By the tilt of the sunlight through the leaves, she’d guess that the sun was just about at its zenith. Lunchtime, really. Her belly gurgled in agreement with this assessment.
The girl slowly picked herself up, leaning against the strong tree trunk for support. [pink]“Maybe… maybe we should keep walking a little, and then maybe we can stop and eat?”[/pink] she suggested, her tone rising in a question towards the end. She turned, searching for Sahoni with her wide, chocolate-colored eyes glinting in the emerald-tinged noontime light.
She lifted her petite hand to sweep aside her bangs, which were hanging in her vision and were getting to be quite a nuisance. She wondered if she dared try using her dagger to cut them, or if she’d just end up cutting her forehead if she tried.
