Memories of the past, clouding the thoughts of the young woman. Would this be it? This pain. This Hate. Could she overcome it? Could she still continue on? The wind whipped past her face, the bitter chill of spring. The air still icy, yet things seemed to be able to grow. Such an odd season it was. The water in the river rippled as she grasped a stone and tossed it into it. She watched every ripple, staring thoughtlessly at them until they touched the banks surrounding it's every side. A lost sigh escaped her lips, clawed fingers touched her ocean blue hair and pulled it ever slowly behind her ear.
Sometimes, she considered death as an option, surely it was better than losing yourself. Unable to control your every actions, unable to fight back, to regain control of your own body. It was awful. Never knowing when it may happen, never knowing who it would attack. Never guessing the outcome, nor if you'll ever wake up from the nightmare that possesses your will.
She stared blankly at her rippled reflection in the river. Hating herself. Despising her every action. She hated herself, she just wished it all to end. Never wanting to hurt anyone ever again, never wanting to cause so much pain and misery to people. A single, salty tear fell from her silver eyes. A tear filled with self hatred, and fear.
She had no words to describe how she felt. Torn between life and death, which would she choose?
Frustrated, she clenched her fists. Thick, red liquid dripped freely as her claws penetrated her fleshy palms. What was there to do for a girl of 18? Was there anything? The blood stained onto the white of her kimono as she closed her eyes. Why? Why she? Why did this thing wish to possess her? What was so special about her? Spirit Slayer. Perhaps the last of her kind. What was there to live for anymore? She felt it impossible for her to be released from this demon, so why? Why bother? These tainted jewels in her legs, there was no point to living if they could not be removed. The task to do so would be dangerous, and she wasn't sure if going through with it was such a good option. To she, death sounded more suitable, for even if she were to rid herself of this curse, she would not be capable of living with herself for her past deeds. Maybe, this could end the pain. But, what if it caused more instead? Such a hard decision for her.
She stood at the bank, staring deep into her own eyes, ponder the thought. "For now, I'll just keep Standing on Edge."
