All was quiet at the edge of the forest. Mayumi sat quietly, listening to the soft chirping of the crickets. Below her, the village lights glittered like a group of fireflies dancing over the dew-covered grass. It was all so peaceful. Mayumi let her head rest against a small boulder as she stared up at the stars. Thoughts of her past ran through her head. Kyoko, her brothers, her mother, and her father. She sighed. Was this search ever going to end? Was it all worth it? She didn't know what to do. Everything seemed so confusing. What if her brothers had been correct? What if her father really was dead? What then? Would she just be wasting her life searching for him? She growled angrily. This wasn't right. If her father had just shown himself when he was needed, she wouldn't be searching for him! She got and kicked the grass. This wasn't any way to live your life.

[Is it ok if I bring Kuroro in?]
The small nekomata watched quietly. She looked down at the femme. Kuroro could tell that there was something wrong just by the way the girl was acting. Something wasn't right. Kuroro jumped down out of the tree she was sitting in. Peeking around the tree, she mewed softly to get the fae's attention.

[It's fine]
Mayumi turned after hearing the small demon call to her. She looked around for the Nekomata, trying to find out if she had decided to hide herself. Then she came across the tree, seeing Kuroro's tails wagging about as she hid. Smiling slightly, Mayumi slowly crept behind to face Kuroro directly. "Hello there little one." She held out her hand, urging Kuroro to come near.

Kuroro took small steps toward Mayumi. Could she really trust this fae? The Nekomata sniffed her hand when she had gotten close enough. She sensed no threat, But there was something different about the human. More the fact that she wasn't a human at all. Only a mere half demon. She mewed and ran forward, jumping up into Mayumi's lap. This would be the ultimate test to see if she could be trusted. If she tried anything, Kuroro would just run. It was as simple as that.

Mayumi was a bit shocked when Kuroro had decided to jump into her lap. She stared at her for a few moments, not knowing what to do next. Making sure not to scare the small cat, Mayumi brought her hand across Kuroro's back in a gentle stroke. Seeing that she didn't mind, Mayumi continued slowly.
"Your a calm one, aren't you?" She smiled and straightened her legs out in front of her. She stopped stroking Kuroro to place her hands behind her for support. The fae stared at the sky, watching as the stars shown their light upon the Tayou Village. She had been thinking about going down to stay in one of the free huts. Maybe this Nekomata would want to come too. Remembering that she still hadn't find out her name, Mayumi looked down upon the little one. "I'm sorry, but I don't think I know your name. Is there someway you could tell me?"

Kuroro nodded and ran to grab some dirt. Sticking her tail into the clay-like earth and then the water, Kuroro began to write. When finished she stepped back, reavealing her name to Mayumi. She may not be able to talk, but she was an expert with calligraphy. Mewing, she looke up at the other femme, tilitng her head slightly as if to ask how she did.

Mayumi just watched in astonishment as Kuroro managed to write her name in the dirt. It was readable too. "You're smart, Kuroro! That was amazing! I've never seen anything like that before..." Mayumi shook her head, not able to believe it. She smiled and lifted Kuroro gently into her arms. "It would be nice to have someone like you to help me find my dad. What do ya say?" She giggled and scratched the small Nekomata behind the ears.
The femme had now remembered what it felt like to have a companion. Someone you could count on. Someone alot like Kuroro had turned out to be. Even though they couldn't communicate by voice, Mayumi seemed to know what Kuroro meant.
She continued to stroke Kuroro softly. The small demon didn't seem to mind this anyway, and Kuroro's fur felt soft and silky; almost relaxing.

Kuroro mewed as she was lifted into Mayumi's arms. They had just met, and yet it felt like she had know her longer than that. The nekomata seemed to smile as the girl ran her hand across her back. It had been a while since she had allowed anyone to pet her like this. She had almost forgotten what it felt like.
Kuroro didn't knew if Mayumi knew about her other form. Her 'true' form. The femme jumped from Mayumi's lap and into a small clearing. She smiled and transformed, fire surrounding her body as she did. Seconds later, a large fire cat stood in front of Mayumi. Kuroro walked forward and grunted.

Mayumi watched Kuroro as she suddenly jumped out of her arms. Not knowing what was happening, Mayumi got up and began to run after Kuroro, thinking that she had done something to startle her. But as the nekomata stopped, so did the human. She titled her head, wondering what Kuroro was about to do.
The next instant, the small nekomata's body was engulfed in fire. Mayumi stepped back quickly. She hadn't expected this. When the fae glanced back, Kuroro was no longer the small cat that Mayumi had known. She was a huge fire cat, standing higher than Mayumi herself. When Kuroro came forward, Mayumi stepped back even more. Unsure if it was safe to go near the beast. Hearing Kuroro grunt, though, reassured her. She gave her an uneasy smile and walked forward, reaching out to pet the Nekomata's scruff.
