The Amaya River rushed away, its glassy surface showing the fish that were struggling against its current. It seemed as though the fish weren't moving, but they were slowly making their way up the river. They didn't even mind that they were being watched by someone.
Said someone was dipping her toes in the chilly water, and smiling down at the fish. Her white hair gently lifted around her pale face in the breeze, and she closed her eyes to enjoy it. She was wearing a white wrap around her chest, a very pale blue obi with a small bow holding it in place. Her white skirt that had slits up to mid-thigh on either side gradually faded to a paler blue at the hem. As the pale figure watcehd a fish jump out of the water and glisten in the sun, she laughed in happiness, the sound of crystal bells chimming. She had been told that she looked like one as pure as snow. This was the Demon known simply as Miyuki.
At her laugh the fish had scattered, and she didn't have anything to watch anymore. Lifting her feet from the water, Miyuki stood up and brushed the front of her clothes down. She turned her face up to the warming sun and smiled an angles smile. She stretched her arms out and spun around on the spot, feeling that she needed to. As she spun, her hair flew past her face, along with the pretty pink shard attached to a silver chain about her neck. When Miyuki came to a stand still, she laughed again because she was a bit dizzy.
Miyuki let herself fall down, and landed with a slight 'thud' on the ground, grass scattering around her. She smoothed her hair down with her hands before leaning back on them to stare up at the clear blue sky. Truly, this was a pleasent day.
'If only I had someone to share it with.' she thought, her smile hinting at sadness.
Miyuki longed for a companion, even if only for a short while. She steared clear of villages, because she was under the impression that humans would be frightened of her, and she did not want to frighten anyone. Miyuki was a kind and giving demon, as was the rest of her tribe. But she had not seen them in a long time.
Sighing to herself, Miyuki crossed her legs and sat up straight, looking once more at the river. The fish were back.

Not to far off pale grey eyes watched on as the easily amused demon frolicked among the grass and stream. This was certainly strange behavior for a demon, well for one who seemed old enough. A frown graced her own features as she recognized the behavior as one who spent most of there time alone. As a child she spent her time doing almost the very same thing this young demon was. She ran her long slender fingers through her hair as she contemplated what to do. Of course she chose to go over to greet the young girl, she just hoped she wouldn’t frighten her off. After all most demons feared Miko’s, and here she was a human dressed in Miko garb. She quietly walked up to the young girl and silently sat beside her. At first she didn’t speak but eventually she turned and gave the girl a soft warm smile.
”Hello, it’s a nice day out isn’t it? My name is Yukina, may I ask you yours?”
Her tone was pleasant and kind much like it always is. She looked back over at the fish whom swam eagerly about. They were pretty to look at, so many colors adorned there scales.
(( sry it was so short it was all I could think of))

Miyuki heard footsteps, but she dismissed it as some animal. But when Miyuki felt a presence by her side, however, she remained motionless in the fear that she would someone make whoever it was go away. Her gaze didn't leave the river or the fish within.
”Hello, it’s a nice day out isn’t it? My name is Yukina, may I ask you yours?” came a kind sounding voice.
Miyuki smiled so much when she heard the voice her eyes closed. She turned to her new companion and nodded happily.
"It is a very nice day, Yukina. My name is Miyuki. It is so very nice to meet you!" Miyuki greeted in her soft voice, trying very hard not to jump forward and hug Yukina.
Miyuki opened her bizarre coloured eyes, and they shone with sheer delight. "I have not had anyone to talk to in so long! Please, what news of the world is there?" Miyuki couldn't help herself, and she reached out and grabbed one of Yukina's hands and shook it.
(( It wasn't that short ^-^ ))

The over joyous reaction from a few simple words was amazing, though after years of isolation Yui could remember how a simple hello could bring such joy. A laugh escaped her lips as the young demon grabbed her hand and eagerly shook it. Not to be rude Yukina shook it back. It had been just as she thought, a girl with out a companion for much to long. Her eyes were very strange though, they kinda reminded her of one of those characters from a TV show called the power puff girls.
”Well I’m afraid I haven’t gotten out enough my self, but word is that Naraku’s back along with an even more powerful demon. The Inuyasha gang and me and my friends, some forced some not, are out in search for the once again broken jewel shards. Other then the destruction and chaos they cause the worlds pretty much a peaceful place.”
She smiled, of course this was grim news but somehow she managed to make it sound cheerful.
”So Miyuki, what kind of demon are you? I’m usually good at identifying other types of demons but you seem to be one that I can't seem to guess.”

When Yukina laughed, a huge smile split Miyuki's face. If there was something she enjoyed more than making others happy, she didn't know what it was. When they had shaken hands, Miyuki withdrew hers and placed them in her lap, listening intently to her companion.
A confused look flashed across Miyuki's face. 'Naraku? Inuyasha? Jewel shards?' She unconciously fiddled with her necklace, not sure what Yukina was talking about. But she didn't want to seem ignorant, so she answered the question.
Miyuki placed a hand over her chest. "I am a Demon of Light from across the sea. I came here with my family a long time ago, but I have only really seen this river." she held her arm out to indicate the chilly water beside her.
Miyuki turned back to Yukin and fiddled with her necklace again, a worried look on her face. "Uhm... Please tell me. What is a 'Naraku'?" she asked uncertainly.

By the confused look on her face it was truly obvious the girl didn’t get much news at all. For some one not to recognize Naraku’s name was truly a feat in this time, after all he next to her of course was one of the most notorious villains in history. She trailed off into thought when the girl mentioned she was a light demon. It may have been faint but she did recall hearing about her species before. Her face lit up, what a chance this was, after all how many times did you get the chance to learn about a new species of demon.
”A light demon? Exactly what can your species do with light? Another thing I hope you don’t mind me asking what continent do your people hail from?”
Now the next thing that came out of the girl’s mouth surprised her. She hadn’t even heard about Naraku, surely news of him had to reach even this river.
”Naraku is one of the worst people in history; he’s ruined so many lives and continues to do so. He’s been after this Jewel called the Shikon no tama; just a shard of it could increase a demons power ten fold. You have one of the shards around your neck right now, which I’m glad it seems you’re not using it. It has a tendency to turn perfectly decent people into some of the worse scum that walk on this earth. Which is why its so important not to let this Naraku or the person he’s working for gain possession of the shard. Right there’s a small group of demons, hanyous, and humans all working together to collect the jewel and defeat Naraku. I’m one of those people whom have joined the group and is searching for the shards. So far I’ve been able to gather three, I really hope you don’t mind but is it ok if I ask you for yours. I would be willing to exchange something for it, for its important that I get the shards to the other priestess Kagome.”
Her face had grown serious, the girl defiantly had a jewel shard and hopefully she would be willing to give it up peacefully. After all she seemed like a very nice girl it would be a shame if Yukina needed to fight her for it. Of course Yukina was always willing to trade something for the jewel after all most didn’t want to give it up with out something in return. One jewel she had obtained by helping a girl contact her dead brother.

"Uhm... Well..." Miyuki stammered. The truth was, she couldn't really remember much about her tribe, or where she had come from. She had only been a very young demon at the time. Usually, a demon her age would have been trained by their parents in the ways of the Light Demon Tribe, but with the war and then crossing the sea, she had missed out. Of course, Miyuki had tried to train herself, but it was hard to train oneself when one didn't know what one was trying to do.
"To tell you the truth, Yukina, I do not know much about my own tribe. During my time in my home, a great war was being waged between my tribe and our natuaral enemies. I missed out on many years of training and education. Unfortunately, my father is no longer with us in this world, and my mother is lost from me. I am afraid that I cannot answer your question." Miyuki said in a sad voice. To not be able to answer this seemingly kind girl's question was most upsetting for her. She thought for the briefest moment of something to say that might answer it, if only a little. Her eyes lit up when she thought of something. "Although, I have noticed that during the night I tend to glow, like the stars. Perhaps that has something to do with the Light Tribe."
Feeling a little better that she was able to give new inforamtion to her companion, Miyuki's face broke out into a smile. But when Yukina started to tell her about Naraku, her smile soon disapeared. Just from that brief desciption, Miyuki found this demon to be appaling. To ruin anyone's life, let alone many lives, was an unthinkable act as far as Miyuki was concerned. She had only ever known how to help others, and tried never to hinder them. Which would mean giving up her jewel shard to Yukina.
After fiddling with the pretty thing on the end of her necklace for a moment, Miyuki tugged on the chain. It unclasped at the back and fell forward, the jewel now in her hand. She looked at it for a moment before offering it to Yukina. Miyuki was smiling as she held her hand out.
"I am happy to help in anyway I can. I would not ask of anything in return for the jewel, but perhaps you might do something for me as a favour." Miyuki didn't want Yukina to feel obligated to do anything for her, but only if she wanted to. "I said before that my mother was lost to me. For many years now I have thought of leaving this river and searching for her. The only thing that has held me back is the fact that I would be traveling alone. Perhaps, if you and your companions wouldn't mind, I could travel with you for a time. At least until I find my mother, or another traveling companion." Miyuki smiled hopefully. She had longed for the day when she could go and find her mother, and it seemed like it had finally arrived. Of course, even if Yukina refused her request she would probably set out soon, anyway. But being who she was, Miyuki would much prefer to have companion with which to share her journey
