----------------Two Hundred Years ago---------------
"W-What the hell is this?!?!" The roar of the angry demon sent shivers down the spines of many of the villagers, watching as the ten priests kept the demon entrapped within the circle of their barrier. Spines flew out of the large white mane of the demon, causing one of the priests to move to defend himself. A sigh of relief could be heard as the spines each hit the barrier and shattered harmlessly.
"You do not stand a chance demon! Just allow yourself to be sealed and let it be done with." The head priest said, slamming his staff into the ground. "Never you bead sucking bowl head!" The demon roared, firing another round of spines toward the barrier, doing nothing again. "Your demonic power is no match for our combined Spiritual power." The Head Priest said, lifting his hand to mouth level, a bead necklace in his hand.
As if on an silent cue, all ten priests began to chant the same sutra. The demon's body throbbed once, and he fell to one knee, his eyes opened wide in surprise. A second throb and he was on both knees, his arms hanging limp at his side. "Bring it here now! His eternal prison." The Head Priest commanded, and a small shrine was brought out, made of wood and covered with sutras. Opening a small door on the shrine, the Head Priest walked forward and using his staff knocking the demon backward.
The shrine now began to pull the demonic energy of the demon toward it. "W-Wha... n-no... No... You can't! Nooo!" He yelled out, barely having the energy to hold onto the grass covering the ground. The sun now just barely rose over the top of the horizon, giving the area a blood red glow to it. With one last angry roar, the demon sent out one last spine that found its place in the Head Priest's neck. The door of the shrine shut closed and the Head Priest fell down to his knees, blood dripping from the wound. Even though the Demon was sealed away, it was he, the demon Gio, who got the last laugh.
---------------- Current past time---------------
"Hey... wanna throw rocks at the old shrine on the outskirts of the village?" A common game with the children of Tayou Village. They played to see who could hit the shrine from a good distance away, the winner the first to hit the old wooden building with the old sutras. It sat within a small collection of large stones, to protect it from the weather. A broken vase sat near the shrine, the vase once held incense used to calm the soul within.
Now, the legend of the demon sealed within is no more then that, just a legend. "You sure we won't get in trouble?" The second child asked. "Of course not! Lets go! I'll race you!" The first child said, running toward the shrine. "H-hey! Wait for me!" The second child called out nervously. Within a few minutes they stood several feet away from the wooden shrine. Picking up a rock, the first child smiled and said, "I bet I can hit it before you." With that, he threw the stone, coming short of the shrine.
"That was just a practice throw... this one will hit." The kid said, throwing another stone, this one hitting one of the sutras, causing it to discinigrate as well as breaking the rope that held the other sutras. As the 200 year old spell weakened, the shrine throbbed and a wave of air pushed out from the wooden structure, knocking the kids onto the bottoms. "W-What was that?" The second one asked, confused. "I-I don't know... let's go!" The first one said, running away from the shrine.
Within the shrine the body and soul of the demon Gio began to struggle against the weakening seal, sending out a wave of demonic energy that also leaked out of the shrine.
