Snowy tendrils of hair fanned out beyond the half-demon as she moved, a soft breeze blowing by. Ice hued cat ears twitched, rotating every now and then as she listened to the songs of birds and of the wind whispering through the grasses. One slender hand clutched a wicker basket at her side, already nearly filled to the brim with heather and other herbs. As she knelt among the grasses and such, never hesitating to get a bit of soil upon her lovely blue kimono, her other hand reached out into the sunlit mass for another bit of fauna.
Soft voice rose up in the silence, rich tones spilling out the sweet notes of song. The words were soft and sad, the melody haunting and rich...

He had spent the last week in a small village healing, purifying, and whatnot but only so much supernatural activity occurs in such a tiny place. Only several days after doing what he could the young man sensed the villagers no longer needed nor wanted him there. He could not blame them. The majority of the villagers' huts could barely shield the inhabitants from the frigid weather; accessible wood and water were scarce. So the monk had taken flight despite the snow.
Kazuya tuned out the monotonous crunching of the snow beneath his feet, wrapping his arms tighter around his chest, his neck tucked against the gentle wind. Making his way to a path he had once traveled down before, he braced himself, sliding stiffly down an icy incline. It was steeper than he expected, landing instead on his elbow with a bolt of white pain.

The snow had begun to fall while Omnira was working, but the half-cat demon hadn't noticed. She had remained warm enough despite the snow that began to coat the rolling grasses and her herbs. She could only be glad that she had begun to pick them before the frosts and snow destroyed them. As she stood, a chill wind blew past, and even the brightness of the sun's rays could not totally dispel the chill.
With a sigh, she turned, only to watch a monk slid down the slippery slope and land with a discernible thud. Her blue eyes widened with concern as she hurried over, carefully picking her way across the snow. "Oh! Sir, are you allright?"she questioned in a gentle tone, dropping the basket to the snow, as she crouched, offering a hand to help him to his feet.

From his side he dropped onto his back, quickly clasping his joint. Letting a hiss escape from his lips he opened eyes, momentarily blinded by the sun's light. A shadow and a voice fell upon him, a hand reaching forward. He gasped. "Back, Demon!" He scrambled to grab a scroll from his robe, pulling out a piece of paper and waving it at the being above him. "Back before I..." His eye caught something unusual. The scroll was blank. Mass hysteria swept over his thoughts; he had forgotten to replenish his stock before leaving the village and now he was weaponless. The young mortal stammered. He released the slip of paper, letting it flutter in the winter wind.

Startled, Omni straightened and took a full step back before her eyes narrowed in acute irritation. A feline hiss left her lips, the sound definately irate and just alittle threatening as he brandished the scroll in her direction. Feline ears twitched rapidly, her pale face pink not only with the winter wind but indignation. Cat's tail lashed behind her as she eyed him another moment, then she reached out to his wrist- the very hand that had held the bank scroll, and slapped his hand aside. "Don't be rude, human!'she snapped.

(Hehe.. I'm having fun with Kazuya so don't kill him.. yet ^^)
With the smarting slap his arm fell. Incapacitated on his back, he thought himself a dead man. He stared at the woman above him, his heart in his throat. The monk could think of nothing, nothing of his past, nothing of his knowledge, nothing to say or save him. He could only watch as the precious seconds flickered by, a snowflake falling from the sky. One fell onto his face. He blinked. Completely docile, he said above a whisper, "I'm sorry."

((no worries. Omni won't kill him..just smack him around alittle if she gets mad enough.))
Her fangs bared in a hiss as she watched him, arms crossed as she glared down at him. Where she had thought to help him before, now her temper was whispering that she should just leave him lying in the snow. And perhaps she would. "You should be." she said, ears flicking as they caught his words. Turning, she crouched and began to scoop the fallen herbs back into the basket she had dropped before, ignoring the bite of the snow that clung to them.

He blinked in disbelief. His mind rushed with any memories of demons. Was there an etiquette he was supposed to follow? Sure he could flee but even if he did how did he expect to outrun a demon? Finally he decided to behave as he normally would.
He pulled himself to his knees despite his throbbing elbow, That's going to leave a trophy bruise... He moved so he was kneeling almost in front of the woman, "I truly am sorry. I... I..." He paused tongue tied as to what to say. "Here! Let me get those." He kept a foot or so of distance between himself and the stranger, quickly scooping up the plants and placing them into the basket.

Omnira was almost numb with shock, and the only thing that had saved her from standing and gaping like an idiot had been her fury. She had never, never, been spoken to like that in all her existence. She had been treated well enough in the mountain village she had lived in, though the other children had rarely played with her. She had never minded, as she had always been a serious-minded kit.
Suprised by his offer to get the plants, she didn't respond fast enough and by the time she could, all the herbs were in the basket anyway. So, with nothing else to be done with her hands, she picked up the basket and brushed the snow from her kimono. "Thank you."she said, alittle stiffly but not unkindly.

A long howl rose from a ways off. A black wolf scurried past the half demon and the human, a happy look on her face as if she were playing with someone or something. She looked at the girl, then to the guy, the smile faded, the wolf lost her footage and tumbled over. A whimped was let free. She stayed on the ground, glareing at her. A ways off, another half demon watched in curiosity.
Come on...get up, Kyy, Lets get out of here! She thought to herself. Of course the wolf couldn't hear the other half demon's thoughts and stayed put where she was. Kyy... The half demon gave a worried look at the wolf. Kyy stared wide-eyed at the them. She was frozen. The half demon had no other choice then toget up and grab her, but it was risky, she knew nothing of the other hanyou nor the human. The hanyou took a deap breath.
Mabye they'll think I'm human too, its not like something about me really screams 'I'm part demon!' I mean, I look human.. The hanyou took one last deep breath and ran as fast as she could, which was really fast, to her companion, Kyy. Her long, blue, shirt rippled in the wind, along with her holy jeans. Despite the frost, she was perfectly warm, event though she was in a tee shirt, ripped jeans, and sorta thin tennis shoes. She came to a skidding hault infront of the wolf. You okay? she whispered to the black wolf. The wolf gave a reasuring whine to the hanyou. She stroked Kyy's soft head and closed her eyes tightly, preparing for the worst.

A resonating howl. A bolt of black whirlwind towards them. Kazuya leapt to his feet, clenching his hands into fists, scouting the snowy clearing. Strangely the beast barreled past the pair and even seemed to trip. But then it began to stare at them. Why...? Why did it stop? Why was it not with its pack? Its pack! Are they hunting us?
Then the most baffling event occurred. A young woman sprinted into the meadow right to the wild wolf. The poor man was so confused. He glanced at the white haired demon hoping she could explain.

Omnira's ears twitched then slammed down tightly against her skull, all but dissappearing into the mass of her hair as the resonating howl sounded. And then the black wolf- for she recognized it immediately as such- bolted past them. And fell? Suprised to find the animal doing nothing but staring at them, the hanyou forgot her irritation with the monk to study the creature.
That is, until the other hanyou rushed forward to retreive the wolf. She couldn't tell right off that this person wasn't human, but all creatures had distinctive scents and auras. And this one screamed of hanyou. Her interest in this other being far outweighed her anger at the monk, or her confusion over the wolf. She was aware of the monk's confusion, and that the hanyou and her wolf obviously expected something bad to happen. But why? Omnira was not normally the violent type- though the monk might disagree- and wouldn't dream of attacking someone based on a mere chance encounter. "Is it hurt?"she questioned, gesturing the wolf settled in the snow. Her gaze seemed to radiate nothing but a sincere concern and interest.

The hanyou was relieved that neither attacked. She opened her eyes and turne to face them. She seems alright. She replied. The black wolf stood, a little shook up from the fall, but otherwise seemed fine.
I'm Kayka, by the way. And this here is Kyy. She said, her voice strarting to sound like its usual gloomy tone. Kyy shook her ruff and looked up at the other hanyou and the monk, then her human companion, Kayka. Kayka glanced at the area, then looked back at the two.
Well, I'm not sure about that other hanyou, but I don't think the human realizes I'm part demon.. she thought. Kayka placed her hand on Kyy's head once she sat beside her. She couldn't really think of anything to say, so she remained quiet and stayed put, side by side with her wolf.

"That's good."Omnira replied with a smile. She didn't really like canines instinctively so she kept her distance from the creature, but that didn't mean she couldn't care about its health.
"I'm Omnira,it's a pleasure to meet you Kayka. And Kyy."she said, speaking to the wolf respectfully unsure whether or not it would understand but unwilling to be impolite in case it did. Why she cared was a mystery, but since she did, she would go with it.

The fox youkai seemed to have treated the newcomer nicely, offering her concern and exchanging names. Kazuya paid close attention while introductions were made, pressing information into his reluctant brain. He had never been good with names.
Releasing his fists, he pressed his palms together and made a traditional fourty degree bow. Solemnly he said, "It is a pleasure to make your acquaintances, Lady Kayka and companion. I am the monk Kazuya." He returned to his upright stance, attempting to act casual, not entirely sure as to what would happen next.
(I'm going to make a thread under the "Character Plot Discussion" board where we can decide what will happen next.)
