Kriss walked with Noli across the icy river at a steady pace, one that was slow enough for her not to slip, but also one that was fast enough to get her across within about a minuet or less. As the serpents emerged from the waters, she turned around to face them. She listened as Noli spoke and nodded her head, "Yeah." she watched as he prepared to attack, or defend himself against the Youkais.

One of the serpents looked at noli straight in the eye and said "Put away your sword half beast.....if we can avoid it we really dont want to eat you....half beast's are a little to though." It said with an evil chuckle. The second one said "And besides we dont eat flesh anyhow....what we eat is..." The third chukled and finished for the second one "Souls....so its simple....do what we want or we devour your souls...simple as that."

Kriss listened to it speak 'They eat souls?!' she clenched her fists and reached for her sword. She pulled it out, but did not unleash it's full power yet. If she did, they may have no chance against them. She glared at them madly, "So what are we going to do now, Noli?" she whispered to him.

Noli walked to the shores and ylled "Allright what do you want ya big snake?" The first serpent smiled "My my arent we the hasty one.....well what i want is to see how long you can bleed to death...blood always makes me shiver." The second serpent smirked "I want to inject the female with posion....i love seeing innards liquify.." THe third serpent rumbled "Mabey we can have them mate for us....ive allways been curous on how human beasts do that." The other two rubmled in agreement "Hoh boy. "Noli said as he walked closer to the shore "Well.....do you like riddles?" The serpents stopped and said in unsion "Riddles?"
Noli smiled "Of course great demons like your selfves are great a riddles right....heres the deal....i pose you a riddle and if you los we get to go.....if you win and pose me a riddle i cant pass....well you win and you get to eat my soul....simple as that." The serpents started to deleberate amongst themselfs and noli walked back to kriss and said "Our chances of surviving just went from zero to slim"

Kriss listened in disgust as the creatures spoke, ranting on and on about what they could make them do. She glared at them as each of them spoke, it made her sick. She looked over at Noli as he spoke. 'A..riddle? Isn't that a little...um..a little risky?' she wondered. She sighed to herself. Well, it seemed as though there was nothing they could do now. She listened to him. He had a point, there was a slim chance they could both make it out alive now. She nodded to him and waited.

The third serpent looked at noli and kriss and said "Allright then well play your little 'game'." Noli clasped his hands behind his back and said "Good now to begin." Noli looked at the first serpent and said "What never breathes but dies when it has air...what has scales that shine like the sun....what always drinks but never drowns?"
The first serpent thought for a second then laughed "Good one half beast the answer is a fish. And now for my riddle. What is hairy but has no legs what has no tounge but has a face...what has no teth yet eats all day."
Noli thought for a second...this was a hard one. Noli chuckled "The answer is a catapilar." THe first serpent cursed and the second one laughed "You were never the smart one sister. Allright half beast 'pose' me your riddle."
Noli looked up at the second serpent and smiled "What has no edge, point, no key or hole to put it yet golden treasure is held inside."
The serpent instead of thinking aswered immeidtly "An egg....and not bad....for a half beast....let's see how you handle this one. Whats greater tha god and whats more evil than satian,what man live's forver, and what doesnt exisit?"
Noli answered immeiditly to...he loved that riddle "Nothing...the answer is nothing." Noli looked at the third serpent and said "One more left."

She listened as he spoke riddles to the demons, so far each of them had answered correctly, however, Noli had also answered their's correctly as well. But what would happen if he got the next one wrong? She held her breath and listened.

Noli allowed himself to smirk as he looked at the thrid serpent and it suddenly said "Ill go first half beast!" Noli grimaced "I have a name you know....its noli." The serpent laughed "Well Noli ill make a wager...i go first but you wont need to make up another riddle....becasu i garentee you wont be able tt pass this one...in fact if you do get it right..." Ther serpent kakled "witch you wont....we'll let you go...in fact ill even give you something very dear to me....now here is the riddle...."
"What kills a king" The serpent started "What tears down a mouantion....what destroys an army....what will bring down the mightyiest demon.....what will set to ruin any beatiful city.....what will stop any tyrant....that is my riddle to you."
Now noli was panicing he dident know the answer to that one "Well?" The serpent said "Do you know the answer? or do i get to eat your soul now?" Noli shook his head "THats no fair! That's way to quick....Give me some more time!"
The serpent howlled in rage "WHAT?!?! WHAT DID YOU SAY!?!" Noli looked up in shock but not fear at the large snake and said "TIME I SAID GIVE ME MORE TIME!!!" The serpent plopped down on the water in exsasperation and said "Time......the answer is time....."
Noli stopped all of the sudden as he realized the serpent must have thought noli figured out the riddle "Why yes of couse i know it the whole time." Noli said cockly tryign to continue the deception. "Fine then!" The first serpent spat "Leave here Half beast!" Noli was about to turn around as he heard the voice of the third serpent say "Wait....Noli."
Noli turned around and looked as the serpents tail slithered up the beach and left something there. Noli slowly walked to the object and picked it up "It's....a moon tear!" Noli said in disbelive as he held the small white stone in the palm of his hand
"Yes" serpent said in remorse "A tear from the eyes of the moon itself....now leave here before my sister's change there minds."

She listened as The demon asked the question, it sounded difficult, then again she never was any good at riddles. She listened as Noli spoke, She looked confused at first, it seemed as though Noli answered it correctly by mistake. Guess it was better then getting it wrong. She smiled happily. "Alright, Noli!" she cried out happily. When he received the moon tear, she looked at it in confusion. She'd never seen anything likee it before. It was pretty cool though.

Noli started to back away and said "Hey kriss i think we should take her advice....i dont know about you but they look about as hungry as to ignore the deal." Noli pocketed the tear and took kriss's hand and started to slowly back away

Noli took her hand and slowly started to walk back..then when they were in the trees went into a full run. "Finally were clearing the forest!" Noli said happyly then all of the sudden noli tripped...and landed in this dusty/sandy/gound.......Noli stood up and looked in awe....what they were standing in was a huge battle feild.....bodies and horses and broken wood were every where..

She ran with Noli to the forest until he tripped. Since she was holding his hand, she nearly did too, but was quick to steady herself. She stood yo straight and looked around. She gasped at what she saw. It was awful! So many dead bodies, broken down buildings, fires. She fell to her knees. "What happened here?!" she asked as she looked around.

"This......was the battle feild i told you about.....it spans for miles apon miles.....i cant even begin to imagene the lives that were lost here...." Ben said sadly as he knelt down beside kriss.

Her silver eyes gazed around her. Her fingers dug into the ground. Why? Why did everything have to be settled so violently? It seemed so wrong to her. She didn't want to believe that anything could be so cruel. She gave a stupid smile and looked at the ground. "It reminds me of my slaughters" she whispered, her voice sounded kind of dull, lifeless even. She listened to him speak and stood up, using her left leg and arm to up right herself. She dusted off the dirt from her kimiono and look forwards, her eyes dull and full of an endless sorrow.
She closed her eyes a moment and took in a deep breath, then slowly let it out before speaking again. "Well, there's no point in moping around here. We have to keep moving." she said, holding back a tear. Slowly, she opened her eyes, revealing the silver color of her irises. She looked back to Noli and gave a half smile and nodded her head, indicating that they should get a move on. "You coming?" she asked, jokingly, trying to lighten the mood.
